Anime/Magna Summaries

› Rurouni Kenshin ‹

In the period of time when Japan was undergoing its transition into the modern world (for you history buffs, this is after Commodore Perry's arrival in old Edo in the mid-1800s), the samurai was quickly becoming an obsolete piece of tradition that was hindering the new government's ability to solidify its power. Using the Hitokiri (lit: man-cutters - professional killers), and the conscript army, the government was able to put down the rebellious samurai once and for all.

However, one of those Hitokiri, the most powerful and deadly of the lot, the one named Battousai ... gained a conscience. The deeds he had justified in the name of the new order had cost him his soul, and he could no longer serve the government in his duty. He swore he would never kill again, so he became a rurounin, a masterless wanderer who would use his powers to protect, rather than kill.

In a time when law was not yet just, and the lawless were still strong, only he was there to protect the innocent from those who would take away what little freedom they had. And he used his real name: Himura Kenshin. Can Kenshin hold his word that he would never again kill? Or will the onslaught of new threats finally force him to become yet again the Hitokiri Battousai ... one who relishes the sheen of blood on his sword?

After he died, his spirit roamed around and decided to look into his house to see how people were acting. He was upset that most of the attendents of his burial were his enemies and teachers that despised him, both of which were laughing. It seemed as though only Keiko, Atsuko, and the school's Dean actually cared enough to mourn for his death. But his longtime enemy Kuwabara was also mourning him in his own strange way; he said that he and Urameshi had "a score to settle" with tears in his eyes. That's when Yusuke realized that there were still people out there who cared about him. A little later, Botan arrived to take Yusuke to Rei Kai, the Spirit World, to be judged by the prince of Rei Kai, Koenma Daioh. Yusuke was surprised by Koenma because he appears to only be a toddler, when actually he's much older than Yusuke. Koenma gives Yusuke an egg that will bring him back to life if he does good deeds, or will hatch into a monster that will devour him if he doesn't. After restoring him back to life, Koenma gives Yusuke the job as a Reikai Tantei (Spirit Detective). As a Reikai Tantei, he will protect Ningenkai (the Human World) from harmful youkai(s) (beasts/apparations), and go to strange missions for the sake of Rei kai itself. Yusuke will also have to train hard and learn how to harness his spirit energy into a powerful weapon. His first mission was to bring back the three stolen treasures of Reikai. A bit after he was assigned his mission, Yusuke killed the first thief, became friends with the two others, and safely got the treasures. Together, he, Kuwabara (who later became his friend) and the two thieves who were close friends, Hiei and Kurama, worked on other missions.

› DN Angel ‹

Feelings of love triggers Dark's emergence and once that happens, Daisuke changes into a 17-year old purple-haired droolable bishie who runs around town and steals art pieces. The main plot is to steal back all the art pieces that belonged to the Hikari family because, according to his family, the pieces originally belonged to the Niwa family. And, as a side note, Daisuke can only permanently get rid of Dark if he falls in love with a girl, have that girl love him in return, and accept the fact that he is, in actuality, Dark. Sounds simple. We know it never is. ^_^ Poor Daisuke is helplessly in love with Harada Risa in the beginning of the story. Poor Dark is helplessly in love with Harada Riku, Risa's twin. Are you seeing the future problems in that? Let's not forget Daisuke's undeniably lickable classmate, Hiwatari Satoshi. He is an integral part of the story, since most of the story revolves around him and Daisuke, especially later in the series.
